Douglas S. Gilliland, Esq.: Mr. Gilliland is a trial lawyer with over 20 years experience. He has represented individuals in the $20,000,000 on-line poker prosecution in Manhattan, New York, first degree murder defense of Philippine President Benigno Aquino’s nephew after his arrest on America’s Most Wanted, defense in the largest Congressional bribery case in U.S. history, acquittal of Emmy Award winning producers in an eight week federal Ponzi trial, double felony defense of former National League MVP Kevin Mitchell and civil defenses in the Birdrock Bandits murder case and the notorious BUMFIGHTS video. Mr. Gilliland received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985 from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He attended law school at the University of Oregon School of Law in Eugene, Oregon where he was an associate editor of the Oregon Law Review and teaching assistant in Torts. Mr. Gilliland received his Juris Doctorate (law degree) from the University of Oregon in 1990. Mr. Gilliland then received a Master of Laws degree in 1991 from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Mr. Gilliland was admitted to practice law before all courts of the State of California in 1991. Mr. Gilliland was admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California in December 1991, the Eastern District of California in June 2001, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in September 2001 and the United States Supreme Court in May 2002. Mr. Gilliland was granted permission to practice law in the Eastern District of Louisiana in 2008 for purposes of the Vioxx mass tort litigation.
Mr. Gilliland has had several court of appeal decisions published by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and California Court of Appeal, Second District, Division Three and Fourth District, Division One. Leonard H. Burgess, Esq.: Mr. Burgess started his career as a trial lawyer defending Fortune 500 companies and multi-national insurance companies. That practice grew to include the representation of multinational companies throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. He defended the world-wide principal on-line poker organization that was the target of the $20.000,000 federal prosecution in Manhattan, New York. He has defended many clients in felony assault, domestic violence, breaking and entering and assault on a peace officer. Mr. Burgess has also defended many serious automobile related cases including hit and run, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and many drug related offenses including possession, possession with intent to sell and trafficking.
Mr. Burgess received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987 from California State University, Northridge. He attended law school at McGeorge College of Law in Sacramento, California and Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California. He received his Juris Doctorate (law degree) from Thomas Jefferson in 1992. He then attended Kings College in London, England where he received certification in International Law from United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy.

Aisling S. Gilliland, Esq.: Mrs. Gilliland is currently an adjunct professor of law at the California Western School of Law which is the oldest law school in San Diego County (est. 1924) where she teaches second and third year law students Skills Training for Ethical and Preventive Practice and Career Satisfaction. She began her career teaching Street Law to inner city youths in the San Francisco Bay Area through a program sponsored by the University of San Francisco School of Law. She became a Street Law Program Facilitator in 1992 and assisted Stanford University and other Bay Area law schools in implementing their own Street Law programs. In 1992, she moved to San Diego to assist the former Chairman of the California Fair Political Practices Commission, Dan L. Stanford, found Stanford And Associates, a boutique law firm specializing in the prosecution of legal malpractice claims against California law firms and lawyers. In her 15 years at Stanford And Associates, Mrs. Gilliland handled all aspects of legal malpractice litigation.
Mrs. Gilliland received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Diego in 1989. She attended law school at the University of San Francisco School of Law and worked at the National Center for Youth Law, a national child advocacy center dedicated to ensuring that children from low-income households have the resources, support and opportunities they need to lead healthy and productive lives. Mrs. Gilliland was admitted to practice law before all courts in the State of California in 1992. Mrs. Gilliland was also admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court in April 2002.
